Members of the Eritrean National Commission for Democratic Change met on October 22, 2010 with US State Department officials at the State Department office in the Washington DC. Commissioners Teklai Abraha and Kibrom Debru met with the officials to discuss the current developments in the Eritrean situation, specifically focusing on the recently concluded National Conference for Democratic Change. Among the issues discussed in the meeting were the process, wide participation and outcome of the National Conference. The Commissioners also introduced the National Commission for Democratic Change, the process of its establishment, its composition, plans and activities as well as the apparent needs it faces. In this meeting that went on for about an hour-and-a-half, the US state department officials, apart from their warm welcome and best wishes, expressed their readiness to work with the Commission. They also indicated that it was very encouraging to see all Eritrean political groups and civic societies working together in an effort to bring democracy in Eritrea.
