Open Letter to Eritrean Political Party Leaders:

Appealing for Understanding and Support

Note:  This Open Letter is addressed to those Eritrean Political Party Leaders whose names and addresses we could not find. A similar letter has been emailed individually to 20 opposition party leaders listed below.

We would like to first express our greetings and regards to you as compatriots in our common struggle

We wish to assure you of our utmost admiration and gratitude for your dedication and the personal sacrifices you have endured over so many years for the salvation of the Eritrean people.

We are writing to seek your support for the Global Initiative to

Eritrean Grassroots Movement in the Diaspora (Global Initiative).  The ultimate goal of the Global Initiative is to elect legitimate Global Leaders starting at the grassroots level in every locality worldwide where there are critical mass of Eritreans.

The charge of this Global Leaders is to prepare/craft a blue print of a road map to end the dictatorial regime and transition Eritrea to democracy, in collaboration with the Opposition Political Parties and forces of change inside the country.

We believe this collaborative process, which engages all Eritreans in the Diaspora, will accelerate the demise of the dictatorial regime.  To this end, we expect your enthusiastic and full support of the initiative to empower Eritreans worldwide to participate in ending the suffering of their people.

We are convinced that there is no Eritrean who is not saddened by the dire situation in our country. Yet, most Eritreans in the Diaspora seem to have given up simply because they do not see how they can play a role in ending the suffering of their people.  We believe success can only be achieved if all Eritreans are united. Hence, what Global Initiative is doing is to involve all Diaspora Eritreans in solving their country’s problems.

It is clear that Isaias is still in power not because the pillars of his regime are strong.  In fact, the regime is just hanging to power just with its fingertips.  A little but vital push will unhinge the regime and force it to suddenly plummet down the cliff.  Therefore, we urgently need to stand up together to abolish the dictatorship and set our people free.  This is why we have to work together, muster all our strength, and remove the dictatorship that is blocking our way forward to a peaceful and prosperous future.

The key idea, which we are proposing as a solution, is based on the grassroots movement.  If the Eritrean mass movement is to achieve its goal within the shortest time and at a minimum cost, Eritreans all over the world must be provided with a proper orientation and get organized at local, then regional and finally global levels.  This is based on the bottom-up approach in which the people at the grassroots level constitute the ultimate source of political authority.  We consider this to be the essence of democracy.

Eritreans in various localities around the world will be choosing their representatives in a free and fair election.  The elected representatives will form local, regional and global assemblies. The global Eritrean assembly, or the provisional Hagerawi Baito, will appoint an Eritrean global leadership council with executive powers.  The duty of the council will be to coordinate and direct the broad opposition struggle in the diaspora and link it up with the resistance forces within Eritrea.  The Eritrean global leadership will enable the inside and outside forces to work together with the same aim in coordination with each other.  This is the way, we believe, will shorten the life span of this terrible dictatorship and usher in a new era of peace, democracy and progress in our beloved country.

Since our mission originates from our people, is supported by our people and is for nothing else but the interest of our people, we know that the success of our struggle is assured.  This is what our remarkable history testifies.

For the convenience of understanding the contents of our message as they are, we are attaching the original document to this letter.  If you have any views or questions for us, please kindly let us know at the earliest.  We are prepared to provide you with our prompt reply.

We trust you have read the “Urgent Call to All Eritreans World-Wide” that was posted in several Eritrean websites on the 25th Anniversary of Eritrean Independence. We urge you to read it if you have not yet done so. You can find it using the following link,

Finally, on behalf of Global Initiative, we wish to express our great desire to work with you on this important endeavor for the success of our joint mission.

Once again, we respectfully request for your much valued support, participation and contribution to promote what we are trying to do. We look forward to your positive response.
