Eritrea: Young protestors in Adikeyih Avert planned Demolition of Residential Houses

(Adi keyih, Eritrea 13/03/2015) Freedom Friday (Arbi Harnet) has this afternoon confirmed that the planned demolition of residential housing threatened by the Regime in Eritrea was successfully thwarted by young people, mostly from the local high schools in the city.

The News received from residents of the city stated that although municipality officials tried to reason with residents that they were only executing orders the protestors were unrelenting and demanded that those giving orders shoul come and talk to them.

Following the departure of the bulldozers and their army entourage, things seem to be calmer than they have been since Wednesday morning the young people took to the streets.

Freedom Friday commends the young people and their gallant resistance and urges every Eritrean to stand in solidarity against the needless act of demolishing residential houses at a time when many Eritreans are suffering as a result of severe shortage of housing.
