Eritrea: PFDJ Government seizing houses of former government officials that fell out of its favor.
December 22, 2014- Asmara: Sources close to Asmarino.com have disclosed that the Eritrean Government has confiscated houses of former government ministers and officials who fell out of grace with the government.
According to the sources, the house of the former Minister of Information, Ali Abdu has been vacated and has been given to Mr. Tesfai 'China' Gebreslasie, Minister of Land, Water and Environment.
Ali Abdu's villa is located in Asmara's prime neighborhood, in an area referred to 'Enda Rasha' ( Russian Quarters), as the houses were formerly reserved to high-level soviet military adivors of the 2nd revolutionary army of the Derg in Eritrea.
Furthermore, the sources have also disclosed that the keren house of former zonal administrator Mustafa Nurhussien has also been confisicated by the authorities.
The Eritrean government often follows the policy of seizing assets belonging to indviduals that have fallen out of favor. It is to be recalled that the family of Naizgi Kiflu were also evicted from his former residence after his death.
