Remember my Chains

Remember my chains

When you turn off the light at night …
In your warm and cozy bed… the love of your life at your side
The children safely tucked…their lights dimmed…

….Remember my chains…

During offering time…before the tabernacle…
As praises rise as the brethren gather
When supplications are offered and accepted

Remember my chains

When you greet one another extending free arms
When you kiss each other as per the Godly command
As your conversations fill the silence of this deaf world

Remember my chains

As you so quietly present yourself before the Lord
In those gentle precious moments uninterrupted
From the depth of your profound meditation

Remember my chains

At the moment prior to hunger when you reach for a bite
As you enjoy a drink …not to quench thirst
As you cover yourself to stave off the biting cold
As you take a pill to quell a budding headache
When you enjoy a moment of laughter
As you admire the rising or setting sun
When the rainfall washes the place anew
As flowers revive the dusty fields
As the rivers flow with life
And when you hear a distant joyous cry

Remember my chains

Don’t be ashamed of my testimony
Don’t be ashamed of my suffering, the word and the power
Remember these chains

Remember my chains

Inspired by these words from St. Paul
“I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you” (Colossians 4:18).

“Do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God” (2 Timothy 1:8).
